Mortar rubble retaining structure includes mortar rubble retaining wall and mortar rubble slope protection. Due to that its material is convenient, economic and suitable,it is widely used in the construction of railway and highway.Affected by long-term operation of overloading,repeated load,dynamic stress of retaining railroad and natural factors,accompanied by the influence of human factors of early construction stage,the existing mortar rubble has presented many disease. Therefore,it is necessary to have the defected etaining structures repaired and reinforced and evaluate the retaining structures with no disease. It would be best to set up safety measures in advance and provide technical guidance for the construction and theoretical reference for future design.Firstly,based on previous research methods and results, combined with the data of field investigation and the results of indoor model test in the project’Study on Maintenance Technology of Exsiting Lines—Research of Disease Treatment Countermeasures of Existing Retaining Wall and Slope Protection’,this paper identifies and sorts out the risk factors affecting the safety and quality of existing mortar rubble retaining structure. By using AHP method and comprehensive method,the paper sets up the risk evaluation model and studys the influence of typical risk factors on the stability of mortar rubble gravity retaining wall.Secondly.through risk assessment and analysis of retaining wall stability,the paper determines the safety assessment units of grouted rubble gravity retaining wall,in which external environmental and natural factors are added compared with traditional safety evaluation units. In addition,the paper put forward the concept of comprehensive security classification from the qualitative and quantitative aspects. Compared with traditional’on the low--not high’method to determine the final level of security,the method proposed here put forward an overall quantitative criteria,which has reference and guiding significance for later retaining structure security evaluation.Finally,several wide-using reinforcement technology and original reinforcement methods are summed up.Then as a grouted rubble gravity retaining wall on the Beijing-Kowloon railway an example,the method of the quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis is used for safety assessment of retaining wall based on field investigation data and nondestructive testing materials. According to unsafe state of the wall,considering drainage measures and multiple reinforcement solutions. Compared with each other,reasonable reinforcement measures are selected at last and taken to reinforce the mortar rubble retaining structure with disease.
