Waterway transport and rail transport is an important part of an integrated transport system, and play an important role in the bulk cargo and long-distance transport of goods. However, the transport amount of China’s container sea-rail intermodal traffic accounted for less than2%of port container throughput, and still can not compared with other modes of transport in the port transport system. In order to update its development, the Ministry of Railways and the Ministry of Communications selected6transportation channels demonstration projects of molten iron intermodal in October2011.Thecontainertransport product of molten iron intermodal transportation as important driving force for advancing the development of container molten iron intermodal, how to design container the molten iron intermodal products in line with market demand and improve the quality of the product operations the key factor of promoting the development of the molten iron intermodal container, and also play a crucial role in promoting the port transport system development.Firstly, the thesis researched domestic and international rail freight system and port the molten iron intermodal product, and summarized the successful operation of the foreign container the molten iron intermodal products and domestic container molten iron intermodal products. Based on the theoretical research of the container the molten iron intermodal product, thesis gives the definition of molten iron combined intermodal transportation product in terms of the narrow and broad senses. And according to the concept of product design, design process of the molten iron intermodal product for container transport has puts forward. Through the research on key problems in the design of products, the influence factors of the molten iron intermodal container product design has been clear, the new product design has put for ward from the business model, service and freight strategy. On this basis, different optimization measures put forward aimed at the issue of China’s container the molten iron intermodal product design. Finally, according to the product design process, the container transport products designed for "Dalian-Northeast" molten iron transport channel.
