Pear is the traditional fruit in Hebei province. Its cultivation has a long history. It is one of the important species of fruit tree cultivation in the province. In recent years, pear industry has become one of the leading industries of Hebei province to develop the rural economy and increase farmers’ income. With the aging population in China, the moving of rural labor to urban areas and the increasing of the price of labor, the need of orchard labor is becoming increasingly strained. Exploring and developing labor-saving cultivation of fruit trees, and improving the international competitiveness of Hebei Province are our historic missions. It is important to choose what kind of cultivation is more economical and practical. It is also important to reduce the labor cost of pear production. There is great significance for Hebei Province to standard with the international.This paper bases on the pear production under the tall and sparse planting and dwarf and close planting. This paper bases on the theory of scientific management and the stage theory of agricultural development. It uses the method of literature search, field surveys, statistical analysis, and the relevant departments visited. This paper analyses the pear cultivation mode at home and abroad, and employment status. This paper summarizes the status of pear cultivation mode of Japan, Italy, other Western European countries and the United States. It gets many valuable experiences. For instance, the dwarf and close planting, soil management system, and no bags of cultivation. It also shows that the pear in Hebei province is mainly planted by small farmers scattered. The cropping pattern is relatively homogeneous. The labor of pear production is in shortage, and high structural fault. The orchard has low level of mechanization. This paper analyzes the cost structure of pear production which contains fertilizer, expenditure of pesticides, herbicides, bagging paper, employee cost and other costs. It comparatively analyses the difference between the two cultivation patterns. Finally, this paper proposes solutions for problems and employment differences. For instance, Government department supports pear industry in charge of the advanced concepts. The pear business arms pear industry with advanced machinery. The pear producers promote the development of the pear industry with scientific.
