Study Of Resources Of Ornamental Grasses In Fuzhou And Its Application In The Landscape Architecture

Ornamental grasses are the herbaceous plants with beautiful and characteristic color of leaf,stem,inflorescences or shapes.Their stem and foliage are the main part of the viewing.Ornamental grasses arenew wide-spread garden and landscape plant material.They have various species,combining with theirunique and high ornamental value,such as the unique shapes and dimension,the rich color and texture ofleaf,the beautiful type and color of flower.Compared to other garden and landscape plant materials,most ofthem have the good biological characteristics,such as the strong resistance,the easy propagation andmaintenance,as excellent additions to different environments of urban green spaces,so it can be widelyapplied in all kinds of different urban green space environment.From the1980s in European and Americancountries it rose up to now,Ornamental grasses have become one kind of the conventional garden andlandscape plant materials and have been widely applied in the garden design,in park green space, etc.InChina,though the introduction and the application of ornamental grasses in landscape design is late and isstill at the beginning,but so far, there have been the individual scientific research units,university,gardenscholars or garden enterprise to study the ornamental grass,such as ornamental grass resources and theirapplication in landscape design,in the urban greening of some China’s areas,ornamental grasses also have abudding, and made very good landscape effect. So in this paper,the primary investigation and research ofmain resources of ornamental grasses in Fujian Province were concerned,and ornamental grasses, as a newkind of ornamental plant with unique value,the appreciation and feasibility of it had been discussed by thenumbers,also the main ornamental grasses resources in Fuzhou were also evaluated using gray-correlationanalysis to filtrate ornamental grasses with better adaptability and beautiful view for developing nativeornamental grasses resources effectively.Results are as follows:(1)After surveying a variety of urban green space type in Fuzhou,it’s found that Fuzhou has more mountainparks,which contains the rich wild ornamental germplasm resources,such as Neyraudia reynaudiana (kunth.)Keng,Saccharum spontaneum Linn.,Miscanthus floridulu(Labnll.)Warb,Setariapalmifolia(Koen.)Stapf.,etc.(2)The results indicates that,in Fuzhou,the comprehensive park and some universities have planted the largenumber of ornamental grasses,especially in Fujian Agriculture And Forestry University,the number andspecies of ornamental grasses is the largest,about51kinds,but the main focus in Botanical Garden,45kindsof about,and more popular at home and abroad for ornamental grasses types.However,the quantity and typeof ornamental grasses are very less in some forms of green space,such as residential green space,theroadside green space,green space attached to urban road and square,etc.The main reasons may be that the plant designers and the general public of the ornamental grass know little about these plants,so such newgarden plant material is rarely used.(3)Through surveying to all kinds of Fuzhou urban green space,a conclusion is reached that the majorcommon ornamental grasses resources have9families,39genera,74species in Fuzhou,which belong toPoaceae,Liliaceae,Cyperaceae,Iridaceae,Araceae,Amaryllidaceae,Pigcatpigcat,Juncaceae,Typhaceae,andthe kinds of Poaceae,Liliaceae,Cyperaceae,were than others,accounted for48.6%,20.3%sand12.2%.(4)According to the principle of the gray-correlation analysis,the series with high correlation degree and theideal varieties is most close,the greater the value that the ideal varieties with more close,and the higher theornamental value.In the resources of ornamental grasses in Fuzhou,Arundo donax var.versicolor,Cortaderia selloana,Cortaderia selloana ‘Pumila’,Arundo donax,Iris lactea var.chinensis,Phragmitesaustralis,Saccharum arundinaceum,Panicum virgatum,Miscanthus floridulus,Neyraudia reynaudiana(kunth.) Keng,Iris pseudacorus have better ornamental effects and their correlation degree with the ideaspecies is higher than0.8.It not only has good adaptability,but also it has high resistant and ornamentalvalue, overall comprehensive character index is higher.The correlation degree of only seven species out ofthe74species introduced were lower than0.6,showing that most have good resistance and ornamentalcharacteristics,and the integrated properties is good.(5)According to the investigation and analysis of the ornamental grasses resources in Fuzhou and itsapplication in the garden and landscape design,analyzing and discussing the application and practice ofornamental grasses in landscape architecture,and ornamental grasses germplasm resources exploitation bythe numbers.And according to this paper investigation, present in Fuzhou,the main new ornamental plantsused in landscape design is most foreign,also the development and applications of the local ornamentalgrasses resource is few,besides the some traditional ornamental grasses such as OphiopogonJaponicus(Thunb.)Ker-Gawl.,Ophiopogon japonicus,Reineckia carnea (Andr.) Kunthand,etc.,and most ofthe local ornamental grasses exist as the wild species resources,and have great development potential.
