Blue honeysuckle (Lonicera caerulea L.) has become one of emerging small berries tree species because of strongly adaptable characteristics and the high nutritional and hygienical value of fruits. In this experiment L.boczkarnikowii, L. caerulea subsp. altaicai L. caerulea var. edulis, L. caerulea subsp. pallasii, and L. caerulea subsp. emphyllocalys were used as the test materials, investigating the morphological diversity of leaves, fruits, plant and the fruit quality is to explore the morphological diversity and fruit quality difference of blue honeysuckle and to provide scientific security for the rapid development of blue honeysuckle. The main results of the research are as follows:1. The shape, base characteristics, apex characteristics of leaf, whether the per plant of the same specie of blue honeysuckle or among the five species and subspecies, have rich morphological diversity. The leaf morphological diversity of L.boczkarnikowii is the most abundant:The lamina have six kinds of leaf shapes, five kinds of basic characters, three kinds of the tip features. The main lamina features of L. caerulea subsp. pallasii are obovate lamina, round lamina basic, blunt tip lamina tip; The main lamina features of L. caerulea subsp. emphyllocalys and L. caerulea var. edulis are willow leaf shaped lamina, wedge lamina basic, tip lamina tip; The main lamina features of L. caerulea subsp. Altaicai are oval lamina, round lamina basic, circular lamina tip. The measuring results show that:The leaf length mean of L. caerulea var. edulis is the longest,6.6cm, which is1.8times than the shortest L. caerulea subsp. Altaicai; The leaf breadth mean of L. caerulea subsp. pallasii is the widest,2.8cm, which is1.8times than the narrowest L. caerulea subsp. Altaicai; The leaf index mean of L. caerulea subsp. emphyllocalys is the maximum,2.48, which is1.3times than the minimum L. caerulea subsp. pallasii; The blade thickness mean of L. caerulea subsp. pallasii is the thickest,0.26mm, which is1.3times than the thinnest L. caerulea var. edulis; The petiole length mean of L. caerulea subsp. pallasii is the longest,4.14mm, which is1.3times than the shortest L. caerulea subsp. emphyllocalys.2. Not only the forms of leaf, but also the shape, the base characteristics, the total bract closed and the surface characteristics of the fruits of blue honeysuckle have rich morphological diversity. The fruit morphological diversity of L.boczkarnikowii is aslo the most abundant:The fruits have thirteen kinds of fruit shapes, two kinds of the involucre feature, four kinds of the base features, three kinds of the fruit surface, three kinds of the sepals position. The main fruit features of L. caerulea subsp. Altaicai are elliptic, not closed involucre, base rounded, smooth surface, sepals located in surface; The main fruit features of L. caerulea subsp. pallasii and L. caerulea var. edulis are cans shape, closed involucre, base uneven, undulating surface, sepals wrapped in involucre; The main fruit features of L. caerulea subsp. emphyllocalys are ovate, closed involucre, base uneven, smooth surface, sepals wrapped in involucre. The measuring data shows that:The longitudinal diameter length mean of fruit L. caerulea var. edulis is the longest,19.46mm, which is1.5times than the shortest L. caerulea subsp. Altaicai, the coefficient of variation of L. caerulea subsp. Altaicai is the highest at13.0%; The horizontal diameter length mean of fruit of L. caerulea subsp. emphyllocalys is the widest,8.88mm, which is1.3times than the narrowest L. caerulea subsp. Altaicai, the variation coefficient of L. caerulea subsp. Altaicai is the highest at10.3%; The shape index mean of fruit of L. caerulea var. edulis is the maximum is2.50, which is1.5times than the minimum L. caerulea subsp. emphyllocalys, the variation coefficient of L. caerulea subsp. Altaicai is the highest at16.1%; The weight mean of hundred fruits of L. caerulea subsp. pallasii is the heaviest,66.1g, which is2.1times than the lightest L. caerulea subsp. Altaicai, the coefficient of variation of L. caerulea subsp. pallasii is the highest at25.1%.3. In addition to the rich difference of leaves and fruits, the plant height and crown breadth also exist obvious difference among different species and subspecies of blue honeysuckle. The plant height mean of L. caerulea subsp. Altaicai is the highest,167cm, which is2.0times than the lowest L.boczkarnikowii; The crown breadth mean of L. caerulea subsp. Altaicai is the longest,102cm, which is1.5times than shortest L. caerulea var. edulis. The plant height mean of L. caerulea subsp. Altaicai and L. caerulea subsp. pallasii is1.5m above, and the crown breadth mean is also bigger. L. caerulea subsp. Altaicai and L. caerulea subsp. pallasii belong to a robust growth potential of germplasm resources.4. Blue honeysuckle resources have rich morphological diversity. The fruit quality also exists, in addition to the total sugar content, significant difference among the different species and subspecies; There is different degree of variation among the per plant of the same species and subspecies. The content mean of flavonoids, soluble solids, polyphenols, and vitamin C of L.boczkarnikowii are the highest, and the content variation of vitamin C is most abundan; The content variation of flavonoids, anthocyanins and polyphenols of L. caerulea subsp. Altaicai are the most abundant. The content mean of anthocyanins of L. caerulea subsp. Altaicai is the highest; The content variation of total acid content and soluble solids of L. caerulea var. edulis are the highest; The variation of total acid of L. caerulea subsp. emphyllocalys is the most abundant.5. The outstangdingly excellent characters of the different species of or subspecies of blue honeysuckle can satisfy to the selections of breeding parent materials. To breeding high content varieties of vitamin C, polyphenol, flavonoids, L.boczkarnikowii should be preferred; To breeding high content and many kinds of anthocyanins varieties, L. caerulea subsp. Altaicai should be preferred; To breeding the strong varieties, L. caerulea subsp. Altaicai and L. caerulea var. edulis should be preferred.
