As the prerequisite and basic guarantee of human production activities, agriculture still retains the most traditional production characteristics. Information technology has been widely applied in agriculture, which has a particularly obvious promoting effect in agricultural development. Agricultural informatization is both the foundation and an important part of the national economy informationization and an important characteristic and the direction of development of modern agriculture, as well as an important means of promoting rural economic development. In recent years, Gansu province has made effort to develop agricultural informatization construction, set up an Agricultural Information Service System, construct a Gansu Information Network as the leading of the agricultural websites, launch the Information into the Village Project, and carry out the e-government service system for rural communities. The agricultural informatization has played a positive role in promoting rural economic development and increasing farmers’income.Based on the analysis of the questionnaires of Gansu province agriculture informationization situation, by using the SPSS software and quantitative methods to analyze the data from2003to2010, the author of the article quantified the agricultural informatization level. In addition, the author predicted the agriculture informatization level of Gansu Province from2011to2015by using the grey system model. Finally, the author uses correlation analysis approach to analyze the relationship between the agricultural informatization and agricultural output values. Furthermore, recommendations for improving the agricultural information system management were made in the article. The results of the study have shown that farm households located in the Longnan area, Longdong Area, Longzhong area and Hexi Corridor District in Gansu Province averagelly has a fixed-line telephone, a mobile phone and a TV per household, and that the farm households in Hexi Corridor District own more computers than the rest of the province. The study also indicates that farmers use computers and mobile phones to chat through QQ service system, play games, and read novels. More than60%of farmers customized mobile newspaper business mainly for weather forecast. The popularity rate of distance education is very low, but the penetration rate of rural radios is very high. Farmers use radios for listening to songs, meeting notices, and agricultural information. The Library in the rural regions has not been well equipped. Farmers are interested in agricultural information such as seeds, seedlings, pesticides, fertilizers, new varieties, pest and disease control, and weather forecasts. Medical insurance in rural areas have drawn farmers’attention. Television, chat with friends and relatives, and government promotional channels are main access to information for farmers. The study also reveals that the development of agricultural information in Gansu Province has shown a spiraling upward trend, but with lower level of development. The main reason for the low level development of agricultural information is that the first and the second information sectors develop with non-balanced growth trend as the second information sector develops slowly. Low-speed development of information becomes a major obstacle to the development level of agricultural information.
