Objective To examinate the expression of monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 ( MCP-1) in renal biopsy tissue from IgA nephropathy. Method In our study 40 patients diagnosed as IgA nephropathy by renal biopsy were collected from Pediatric of the Affiliated Hospital of Inner Mongolia Medical College and Traditional Chinese and Mongolia hospital of Inner Mongolia, during November 2007 to October 2009 ,included 8 to 14 years patients were 10 cases. 40 patients were divided into two groups according to Lee SM (Ⅰ~Ⅴgrade) ; A group included 20 cases (LeeⅠ~Ⅲgrade) ; B group indluded 20 cases ( LeeⅣ~Ⅴgrade). The control group included 20 patients diagnosed as normal kidney tissue by renal biopsy, whose kidney tissue came from renal tumors’ and renal cysts’ patients in the same period. In the meanwhile all patients were divided into non—damage (21 case) , mild (8 cases) , moderate ( 19 cases) , severe damage (12 cases) according to the degree of tubulointerstitial damage ( Katafuchi standards). The expression of MCP-1 were measured with immunohisochemi-cal staining in renal tissue. In our study gray value was been used to response kidney rationale staining intensity and coloring grayscale images transmittance, the less gray value responses greater expression of MCP-1 , and vice versa. Result all patients with IgA nephropathy had different levels expression of MCP-1 in renal tissue according to Lee SM. The expressions of MCP - 1 (A group was 74. 50±3. 27 , B group was 68. 08±2. 37) in renal biopsy were higher than control group (81.98±3.21); In the meanwhile the difference between A group and B group about the expression of MCP-1 is statistically significant ( all P <0. 01 ,95% confidence interval did not include one). According to the degree of tubulointerstitial damage (Katafuchi standards) all patients were divided into non-damage (82. 03±3. 13 ), mild (76.44±2.01) , moderate (71. 49±1. 69) , severe damage (66. 54±1. 23) , The expression of MCP-1 were statistically significant among the groups( all P <0. 01 ,95% confidence interval did not include one). This shows that the degree of tubuloinsterstitial damage more severe, the expression of MCP-1 is higher, all patients with IgA nephropathy had different levels expression of MCP-1 in renal tissue. Conclusion The patient with IgA nephropathy had different levels expression of MCP-1 in renal tissue. The expression of MCP-1 was associated with the severity of renal damage in IgA nephropathy. The more severe pathological damage in renal tissue the more expression of MCP-1.
