The Clinical Observation Of Obstructive Constipation After Recovery Stage Of Ischemic Stroke Treated By Acupuncture And Biofeedback

Background:Constipation is a common complication of stroke,which has the serious influence of the quality of life and the recovery of function.The survey shows that most patients with ischemic stroke have constipation symptoms,even as high as55%.At present more and more clinical doctors and scholars have conscioused that the particularity and importance of constipation after stroke,which is becoming the focus of the research.Objective:Treat obstructive constipation after recovery stage of ischemic stroke by acupuncture and biofeedback,which is the combination of Chinese medicine and Western medicine.Observing the differences of each group through the randomized control study,in order to discuss the feasibility and effectiveness of the treatment and provide the evidence of its clinical application.Method:Enrolled40cases,who were inpatients or outpatients of Neurologist and GangChangKe in Nanjing Hospital of TCM from Mar.2011to Feb.2012,according to Rome III process and laboratory examination,were21males and19females,and50-84years old,and had course of disease for0.5-20years.They were randomly divided into treatment group (acupuncture and biofeedback) and medicine control group (Polyethylene glycol,Fu Song),20cases of each group.Treatment group:therapeutic acupoints:BL31,BL32,BL33,BL34, DU20,BL25,BL23,BL57,ST25,ST36,SP15,CV4,CV6,CV12;biofeedback therapeutic regimen: EMG stim&Kegel training.The control group of polyethylene glycol (Fu Song) treatment:2package Po.Qd. All categories are10treatments in a course,after three courses we evaluate the primary outcome and follow-up a month. PAC-QoL is used as outcome measures to evaluate the therapy,the improvement of ADL is observed at the same time.Result: After treatment for three courses,treatment group:0case was cured,4cases were excellent and11cases were improved,and the total efficiency was75%,5cases were invalid,and the inefficiency was25%;control group:0case was cured,4cases were excellent and10cases were improved,and the total efficiency was65%,6cases were invalid,and the inefficiency was30%.The efficiency of two groups was no statistical differences (P>0.05).After treatment,PAC-QoL and CSS was no significant differences (P>0.05) betweeen two groups,there was a significant difference (P<0.01) before and after treatment.ADL was statistical differences (P<0.05) betweeen two groups,as well as the treatment group before and after treatment.Conclusion:1.Treating obstructive constipation after recovery stage of ischemic stroke by acupuncture and biofeedback is definitely effective,and can improve the symptoms of constipation and life quality.2.It can improve the symptoms of constipation,at the same time can improve the ability of daily life activities(ADL) better than drug control group (polyethylene glycol).3.Treating obstructive constipation after recovery stage of ischemic stroke by acupuncture and biofeedback has no adverse events,is society.
