With the sustained and rapid growth of national economy as well as the requirement ofpower source especially natural gas, natural gas consumption in China increased rapidlythese years. The gap between natural gas supply and requirement which restricted the socialand economic development increased year by year. In recent years, with rapid developmentof the natural gas industry, natural gas purification construction projects have rapidlydeveloped. And there are various kinds of occupational hazards that can not be ignored inthe natural gas purification construction projects, and they have become a new topic inpublic health field. This subject studied occupational hazard and control measures in naturalgas purification construction projects in five natural gas purification plants in Chongqing. Objective: To analyse the occupational hazards of five natural gas purification plantsin Chongqing, explore the occupational hazards and the degree of harm in these projects, put forward the effective control countermeasures, provide a scientific basis for preventingand controlling occupational hazards of similar enterprises. Methods: According to reference, engineering analysis and occupation hygieneinvestigation, analyze occupation hazards of the five natural gas purification plants whichhas been built and put into operation in Chongqing. Basis of national standards: such as“Measurement of Noise in Workplace”(WS/T69-1996),“Measurement of Physical Agents inWorkplace part8:Noise”(GBZ/T189.8-2007),“Method for Determination of Dust in theAir of Workplace Part1: Total Dust Concentration”(GBZ/T192.1-2007),“Determination ofToxic Substances in Workplace: Sulfide”(GBZ/T160.33-2004),“Determination of ToxicSubstances in Workplace: Inorganic carbon compounds”(GBZ/T160.28-2004), monitoringconcentration of the main harmful factors such as noise, dust, hydrogen sulfide, sulfurdioxide, carbon monoxide, depending on occupational health examination qualifiedinstitutions for the personnel occupation health inspection of the research objects’ operatingpersons.Results:(1) The occupational risk factors identified include: noise, Hydrogen Sulfide, Sulfur Dioxide, Carbon Monoxide and dust. Contact opportunities are site inspection, operation, leaks or maintenance, noise and sulfide are mostly contacted. In addition, theoccupation hazards include confined space work and unreasonable labor system, such as anight shift jobs, long working time.(2) The qualified rate of the noise intensity monitoringresults for all subjects are100%, with an exception of subject no.1, all kinds of fans andpumps are the main noise sources and noise-critical control point; the concentration ofharmful factors including hydrogen sulfide in the workplace do not exceed the standard, valve, pipe or access port of device, the liquid sulfur pool, as well as maintenance jobs isthe critical control point hydrogen sulfide.(3) The occupational health surveillance rate ofstudy subjects is higher than90%and no occupational taboos and occupational diseases aredetected, but with the increasing length of noise exposure and low utilization rate ofanti-noise earplugs, noise hazard can not be ignored.(4) Although relevant occupationalhazards protection measures have been taken by the study subjects, there are stillinadequacies. Conclusion: According to the survey of the five natural gas purification plant, theconclusions are:(1) Noise and hydrogen sulfide are the focus occupational hazards.(2) Allkinds of fans and pumps are the critical control points. Valves, pipes or devices connectedto the mouth, the liquid sulfur pool mouth, as well as maintenance jobs are the criticalcontrol point to prevent hydrogen sulfide.(3) Occupational health surveillance should belong-term ongoing.(4)The study suggests that the emphasis on occupational healthmanagement is the core of prevention of occupational hazards, Automation and closedoperation is the key to a lower level of toxic and hazardous substances in workplace.Emergency rescue and personal protective measures prevent acute poisoning protection,Reasonable work system and confined space operations can not be ignored.
