A modern world, under the influence of globalization, has provided a ground for broad ethnic and cultural interaction. Meanwhile, the extremely rapid economic development of China, has greatly increased the influence of Chinese culture on the rest of the world, which makes learning Chinese as a second language an appealing choice for any foreigner.Chinese idioms carry the essence of Chinese heritage, thus, through learning idioms one can truly embrace the profound aspects of Chinese language and culture.I, as a Ukrainian student who studies in Hua Zhong Normal University, am quite interested in the Chinese language, especially in Chinese idioms, therefore I chose the topic of teaching Chinese idioms to Ukrainian students. This article not only deals with the significance of learning Chinese idioms and comparison of the similarities and differences between Chinese and Ukrainian idioms, but also provides a series of specific practical and theoretical techniques for contemporary teaching programs.
