Teaching Chinese Directional Complements is a difficult part in Teaching Chineseas a Foreign Language. It’s hard for student to use Chinese Directional Complementscorrectly because their structure and meaning are complicated. Moreover there arenot enough teaching materials on this topic. There is not such grammaticalphenomenon–Directional Complement in Ukrainian language, that’s why Ukrainianstudents have difficulty to understand it and make a lot of mistakes usingComplements.We use a questionnaire to investigate common mistakes Ukrainian studentsmake when they use Directional Complements. We classify these mistakes andpropose teaching methods and technics that can help Ukrainian student tounderstand Chinese Directional Complements. This thesis consists of six chapters.In Chapter One there is general introduction of Directional Complements,summary of the research papers made by Chinese and foreign scientists. There areresearch methods and data sources.In Chapter Two you can learn about the structure and meaning of DirectionalComplements. Then we show how Chinese Directional Complements can beexpressed in Ukrainian language.In Chapter Three we introduce the Questionnaire which was given to Ukrainianstudents, we describe research principles and questionnaire respondents. Finally, weanalyze the results of the research.In Chapter Four we categorize the types of errors in the usage of ChineseDirectional Complements among Ukrainian students and analyze the reasons ofdifferent errors.In Chapter Five we propose teaching strategy that can be useful for Ukrainianstudents learning Directional Complements.Chapter six consists of conclusions and suggestions for future researcher of thesimilar topic.
