Research Of Chinese Courses Teaching Situation Of Four Chinese Schools In Iloilo, Philippines

Chinese education in the Philippines has more than113years of history.1973,Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos issued Decree No.176to the Philippines alienschool. Since then, Chinese language education in the Philippines has experienced a nearly20-year trough. Since the1990s, the Philippine Chinese education began to reform. Nowhow are the Philippine Chinese schools like? As the fourth largest city of Philippines, howdo the Chinese schools develop Chinese teaching in Iloilo? Through the field survey,comparative analysis and other methods, we study the situation of Chinese teaching in fiveaspects, namely, the subject teaching material, the main course teaching progress, the testform, and teachers in Iloilo Central Commercial High School, Sun Yat Sen High SchoolIloilo, Ateneo De Iloilo, Iloilo Scholastic Academy. And through the analysis of their HSK(level2) reading test scores, we get an insight to students’ Chinese level. To a certain extent,this paper reflects the Chinese education situation of the whole Philippines.
