The purpose of this paper is on make a comprehensive investigation to WangShuo’s value choice. In the80s and90s of the20thcentury, China had historic change.Wang Shuo who had been discussed by a lot of scholars should be studied in themodern Chinese society and literature discourse transformation of historical context. When the old values fail, the new values are still in vogue, Wang Shuo comes upwith the emerging public spirit demands. Wang Shuo’s works has been verycontroversial, but undeniable, he is committed to write reality. On one hand, heinsisted to write life itself, even if the decadence and corruption are not fantastic; onthe other hand he bravely exposed social evils, and dared to expose the hypocrisy ofsociety. His characters, looks ambitious, overlooks everything in life, butkind-hearted, sincere. Wang Shuo is especially interested in the “humanity”, heopposed all the things depressed, especially dispersion from the high to the weak side.He does not hesitate depicting “good” human nature and exposing “evilness”. Hisnovel is like a mirror, reflecting the good and evil people and influencing real world, inspiring people to think, and giving warning. Wang Shuo always has his ownwriting principles, all his subversion and blasphemy are in the dominant aspects, inorder to achieve the needs of the mass on specific cultural aspects. In fact, there is nofundamental conflict between his and the mainstream value system, but there is someconnection to mainstream values of reconciliation.Later, in2000Wang Shuo is dented to Buddhism and meditation on death. This resulted his madness, and he went to the extreme. We can’t deny that he havemade contribution to Chinese literature and the Chinese film and televisiondevelopment. He started a group planning and production of television drama. Hisunique language style and philosophy of life become one of the most admiringmodels and copying objects. But we also recognize, the one who returned is quitedifferent from the all-powerful “cultural rogue” as Wang Shou had on our mind shot.
