The May Fourth New Literature is an integral part of the May Fourth Movementin China,both important tools and result in the ideological and cultural enlightenmentmovement. The development of new-vernacular literature cannot leave the impetus ofliterature writer and theoretician. In this period, there are some famous writers: XUNLu; MoruoGuo; Duxiu Chen; etc. They all have the similar experience, studied abroadin Japan.“The symbol of depression” caused the huge influence in China,whichintroduced by Lu Xun. This text is from three angles to analysis “The symbol ofdepression” and what it carries on China.The first, analysis the western culture in “The symbol of depression”,compared theliterature thought of the western culture in order to Comb chuchuan’s literaturethought.The second, from the "person" concept, carrying on the analysis with literaturecreations from modern literature writers. After awakening of “person”, new-vernacularliterature writer facing complex and poor and weak country and innermost feelingspain.“The symbol of depression” help Chinese writer to find the direction of writing.Third, the new literary and political concern. The authors believe that literatureshould have a close relationship with the community, at that time of the Chinesesociety, literature and politics are closely related. In China’s specific nationalconditions, the feudal rulers controlled people by mora, so f a new morality is beproposed. Further more, the new literature is the tool of the enlightenment, therebygiving rise to the Enlightenment literary trends.
