Depression was a kind of negative emotions whose main feature was depression, reflecting the normal individual’s subjective feelings. In recent years, the number of the normal population who was depressive showed a growing trend. As a special group of society, due to various personal and social reasons etc., the tendency to worsening depression of college students has caused widespread concern in the community. In order to understand the mental health of contemporary college students, especially to understand the relationship between coping style, personality characteristics and depression among each other. To facilitate psychological educators to develop targeted mental health education activities, we used the amount of trait coping style questionnaire (TCSQ), self-depression Scale (SDS), the Big Five personality Inventory to test college students, issued240copies of the paper version of the questionnaire, recovered227valid questionnaires, the effective rate was94.6%. we have explored the university students coping style, personality, depression and their relationships to each other.The conclusions of this study were:(1) Coping style, depression scores were not significant different on gender, area, the only child or not etc three demographic variables, but they were significant different in grade;(2) The factor scores of personality characteristics in gender, area, the only child or not on were not statistically significant, but the personality characteristics openness factor was significant different in grade;(3) Coping style, personality and depression were significantly correlated.
