The teaching aim of teaching Chinese as a second language is to train students’ ability tocommunicate with Chinese people in Chinese fluently. However, it is very common that teacherspay more attention to the teaching in class, while ignore the extracurricular activities whichtherefore are much aimless and lack of organization. Task-based Language Teaching (TBLT) ismuch useful in solving this problem. Based on the questionnaire about the teaching situation ofextracurricular activities, this paper focuses on the analysis of the theoretical basis and ways ofthe application of TBLT. It mainly discusses the whole process of extracurricular activities basedon TBLT, taking traveling for example, from the organization and design, the practice andsupervises to the assessment of the task. Even though TBLT is widely used in the teachingprocedure, it is also a challenge for us to apply it to the extracurricular activity in the targetlanguage situation. TBLT is expected to be much effective in organizing the extracurricularactivities of the overseas students in China.
