Since1980s,the education of teaching Chinese as a foreign language and therelevant undertakings have achieved a great development under the background ofreform and opening up. The first working conference of teaching Chinese as aforeign language presented that the education of teaching Chinese as a foreignlanguage was a national cause in1988. In recent years, this cause develop morequickly because of improved comprehensive national strength and elevatedinternational status.Currently, the number of cross-cultural issues increases because more and moreoverseas students from different countries come to China. A lot of scholars havestudied the cross-cultural issues aiming at different overseas student groups, analyzedthe internal and external factors of cross-cultural adjustment and offered suggestions.This paper focuses mainly on the cross-cultural adjustment of overseas students fromCentral Asia in Xinjiang Province. According to the the classification ofcross-cultural adjustment presented by Ward and his colleague, this thesis focuses onmental adaptation and social cultural adaptation and do quantitative analysis andqualitative analysis on the basis of interviews and questionnaires.This paper uses interviewing method, case method and questionnaire method.There are five parts including introduction, analysis, reasons, countermeasure andconclusion in this thesis. Introduction describes reasons of this subject, theoreticalmeanings, realistic meanings, objects of study, research methods and the review ofrelevant theory analysis. Analysis part includes two chapters. The first chapter is theanalysis of mental adaptation of overseas students from Central Asia in XinjiangProvince. The second chapter is the analysis of social adaptation of overseas studentsfrom Central Asia in Xinjiang Province. Besides this paper offers suggestions foroverseas students, teachers and study abroad organizations in order to solvecross-cultural issues among overseas students from Central Asia. The last section isto summarize the article, and a few points worth noting in the cross-culturalcommunication, in order to create favorable conditions for cross-cultural adaptationfrom the macro.
