Based on a questionnaire survey, the paper researched on and analyzed the Chinese learning motivations of overseas students, classified the motivations, and discussed the impacts of motivations on Chinese promotion. Subsequently, the paper put forward specific suggestions on the motivation-related promotion of Chinese worldwide.Questionnaire surveys and random online interviews were conducted among nearly 1000 people of various nationalities, ages, and professions, with half learning Chinese as a foreign language and others learning other languages. The results were analyzed and studied, and it was found that,1),despite the increasing number of Chinese learners, the majority were beginners and there was a small proportion of learners of or over intermediate level; 2),most learners found it difficult to learn Chinese; and 3), instrumental motivation was commonly found in the learners while integrative motivation was found only in a minority of the learners. We should consolidate the Dominant motivations of Chinese language learning, to give full scope to the advantages of instrumental motivation, continue to strengthen the role and competitiveness of the Chinese in the world economy and employment. We should also enhance the status of the integrative motivation of Chinese language learning, to attract more people fall in love with china, fall in love with Chinese language. And then we should eliminate and converse of the negative motivation of Chinese language learning. Pay more attention to the instruction of Chinese language, to make people change the old and wrong saying that "Chinese is very difficult to learn." We can also learn some good idea from other countries to promote the national language.
