It reflects the subjective information of basicmeaning about language community’s joy, anger, love, hate, respect, modest, praise and relegate.It has a great role of improving and strengthening the expression function of language in thecommunication process.As the representatives of the monolingual and bilingual dictionaries, Modern ChineseDictionary(fifth edition)and Modern Chinese-English dictionary(new edition) marked theemotional connotation of some of the entries, but due to the different compilation purpose, thetwo exist some differences in the compilations. We collected the whole entries marked theemotional connotation, analyze and compare their marking form, scope of the collection words,marking of the part-of-speech tagging, arrangement of entries, phonetic, definition and usage ofcharacters.
