Witnessed the upsurge of learning Chinese in Korea in recent years, more and moreKorean pupils begin to learn it. At the same time, new Chinese textbooks are continuouslybeing published. However, studying and development of exercises in Chinese textbooks,which, in the course of Korean pupils’Chinese learning, is exceedingly necessary and ofimportant value to the language communication ability. In a word, the research focusing ontextbook exercises is very important.The basic criterion of the analysis of exercises type and content in this study is based onthe Korean Seventh Primary School Foreign Language Teaching Outline. And its ultimate go-al is to enhance pupil’s language communication ability. If the exercises type and content, from the perspective of improving pupil’s language communication ability, put emphasis on me-rely one or two aspects, it is regarded as disadvantage. Therefore, the way of making up with each other in complying with the exercises needs to be considered. The research will investigate the effect of Chinese book in Korea concerning the improvement of language communication ability.The study analyzes the exercises of Korean pupil’s Chinese textbook from the respect ofpupil’s character, the type and content of the exercises, exploring whether the current exercises can improve the pupil’s ability. In addition, it puts forward some advice on designing textbook exercises to enhance the ability of language communication.The thesis involved 5 Chapters.In the first chapter, it describes the reason and aim ofchoosing the thesis subject, the actuality, approach and area of the research. In the secondchapter, the content of Chinese textbook exercise, pupil’s character and the ability oflanguage communication were summarized through analyzing the periodicals and documents.In the third chapter, we should select exemplary textbook from several of Chinese textbooksto pupil published in Korea. And then analyze exercises’content and type on these exemplaryaccording to the area and item of language communication ability, mentioned in the outline ofSeventh Primary School foreign Language learning and the criterion of achievement andjudge of primary school foreign language teaching. Finally, some deficiencies found in thesetextbooks should be corrected and some advice should be given. In the Fourth chapter,according to the analysis result of the third chapter, gives some advice, designs new exercisetypes. The last fifth chapter concludes and reveals a deficiency in this research through the information from this study.
