A Study Of The Formation Of Vocabulary In Netspeak English

The language was seen as the most important means of communication of human.It aims at exchanging ideas, expressing opinions, and communicating ideas. Thesefactors mean that language changes and developes constantly with the development ofsociety and people’s needs.Computer networks can be the greatest invention in the history of humancivilization. Since the20th century, there is no denying that, it has profoundly affectedall aspects of people’s lives directly or indirectly. With the development of networks,Network language becomes a kind of language form which is different from thetraditional print media linguistic. So a new social dialect called Netspeak English hasarisen, which is caused by the Network communication. With the rapid developmentof science and technology, people’s thinking is more and more meticulous andcomplex. At the same time, due to the influence of this, new things and new conceptsemerge in an endlessly. This circumstance points out the new direction ofcommunication and puts forward some new demands. Thus, people in different sociallevels can contact and communicate, which makes a new branch of the languagecalled computer-mediated communication.The appearance of the computer-mediated communication makes a new socialdialect—the Netspeak language. So what are the Netspeak, its definition, features andthe future? I will analysis all these in the paper.Focusing on the English network chat, I will summarize the characteristics of thenetwork language. According to the linguistic data which is mainly from the OxfordDictionary of the Internet, some websites and the network chat rooms in this study, Icombined the general linguistics and the social linguistics to make the quantitativeand descriptive analyses about the aspect of Netspeak vocabulary methods and characteristics. Its purpose is to advance our cognition further of networkcommunication languages to eliminate communication difficulties. And I’ll expoundthe significance of network communication language in Language civilization andsociety.
