This is a report concerned with property advertisement. Based on the35property advertisements, the author summarizes the principles as wellas the "faithfulness, expressiveness, elegance" standards to translatethe property advertisements.In the first chapter, it mainly introduces the macro-thinking oftranslation, that is, the summary of "faithfulness, expressiveness,elegance" standards, the stylish features of property advertisements, aswell as the diction features of the New Zealand property advertisements.The stylish features of property advertisement can be summarized into four:first, it is professional with fixed terms; second, the exaggeration andrendering of the words and sentences in the property advertisements; third,the refinement and elegance of the words and sentences; fourth, therestriction of the regions and areas. The diction features of New Zealandcan be divided into three points, first, the words derived from BritishEnglish; second, abbreviation; third, the words derived from Maori.The second chapter of the essay introduces the principles of thetranslation of New Zealand property advertisements, which can beclassified into three: first, focusing on the literal translation withappropriate integration and arrangement; second, the professional wordsand phrases should comply with the its expression habits; third, tryingto reproduce in the target text the rendering and elegant phrase stylesin the original texts. The English property advertisements tend to bestraight and brief with clear content and simple form. In the mostcircumstances, it will point out the features of the property straightlywith every word having the fixed meaning. Due to the difference betweenthe Chinese and English, it requires the translators to use appropriatearrangements and integration besides literal translation to reveal theconnotation of the advertisers. The property advertisement is involvedwith professional vocabulary, which differs from the daily expression.Only by using the professional terms, can it achieve the effects of theoriginal text. Every industry has its fixed patterns and expressions, onlyby this can it comply with the terms in the property advertisement. Asuccessful advertisement should be striking and achieve its goal ofpromotion,therefore, at the same time of translating according to theChinese using habits, it should express the rendering and elegant stylesto let people enjoy the process of reading the advertisements. In the third chapter, the author introduces three standards whichshould be complied`with during the translation process, that is"faithfulness, expressiveness, elegance" standards. The propertyadvertisement, should not only publicize widely like the normaladvertisement, but also draw the eyeballs of the customers to let thembuy the house or apartment, therefore, during the comprehension andtranslation, the high standard should be obeyed to achieve the effectscomplying with the original text. Faithfulness refers to the fact loyalto the original text; expressiveness refers to the smooth expression ofthe meaning of the original text; elegance refers to the re-appearing ofthe style of the original text with the target language.In the fourth chapter, the author summarizes the theoretical meaningas well as the practical meaning of the translation of propertyadvertisements. To the careful translators, whether in the English toChinese advertisement or the Chinese to English advertisement, there area series of skills and tricks. In the text, the example of the translationof the New Zealand property advertisement is taken to narrate thestrategies of translating the English property advertisements, with thehope to set an example for the future translation of the text similar tothis essay. With the further development of the globalization and economicintegration, the property advertisement has also upgraded to the globallevel. To learning the New Zealand English to Chinese translation ofproperty advertisements can broaden our horizon, interest our life andmake our life more convenient.
