A Study On Position Word Of Subsequence

Time category is one of the important grammatical category. The research is focused on when and body first. In the second,on time expression.Research on the position word of subsequence,there has some results. But mostly on one or two words. In this paper, based on existing research, it attempts to use the research methods of from outside to inside and combination, discussing the locative words forms and syntactic functions, word meaning, Semantic fuzziness, and time reference, and discussing the word discourse function. Besides the preface and conclusion, it has three parts.The first part discusses the forms and syntactic functions of words. It thinks that "yilai(以来)/lai(来)/hou(后)”cannot be used independently, it must be attached to the back of the other words phrases to make sentences. Independence of "houlai(后来)”is strong, it can not combine with other word." Yihou(以后)/zhihou(之后)”not only can be used independently,but also form phrases with other words as sentence."Wanghou(往后)”independence is also relatively strong, generally used alone, sometimes can be associated with a prepositional phrase such as " congci(从此)/congjin(从今)”"Sihou(嗣后)”independence is strong, and can not combine with other word. Position word of subsequence can be used as attributive, adverbial, sometimes as the subject, object." Houlai(后来)/yihou(以后)/zhihou(之后)/wanghou(往后)”can also be a separate sentence.The second part analysis the meaning of the words, semantic fuzziness and the time reference point. Position word of subsequence express a time which is late than a reference time."Yilai(以来)/lai(来)”means from the past to now or sometime before this period of time to the present, which is a period of time in history."Yihou(以后)/zhihou(之后)/hou(后)”convey the time which is late than in the past or now." Sihou(嗣后)”means some late time than in the past, and convey the time which followed." Houlai(后来)”said sometime late than in the past。" Wanghou(往后)”said a late time than some time in the past or now. It has semantic fuzziness. One is the time objective position of the words is fuzzy, the clarity is relative. The second, people use these words to express a vague subjective concept. When the time reference point appears in the text, it can be in combination of words phrases, also can in front of the phrase. Sometimes the time point of reference in this paper does not appear, this is generally the reference time is the present time:speaking or writing.The third part analyzes the pragmatic and textual functions. The article thinks position word of subsequence can define event time position, expresses Affirmation or Euphemism. And it has time binding function, text thematic function, connection function,and can take what our forebears have left us but as a departure for new inventions. Position word of subsequence in discourse has an important role in, it promoted the development of discourse.
