In recent years, more and more Mauritian students come to China to learn Chinese language. In the process of their studies,"listening" is always an obstacle for them, and listening lesson is also regarded as a difficult point. How to solve this problem has become our primary task. Combining theory with teaching practice in School of International Education, Anhui University, the writer obtains certain cognition in listening teaching for Mauritian students, and finds their listening problems. Then the writer puts forward some solutions in order to provide some suggestions for future related Chinese language teaching.The thesis consists of five parts. The first part is Introduction, mainly stating the study purpose and significance of the thesis, current study situation in domestic and overseas fields, the status quo of study subject, and study method and ideas.The second part is the investigation for listening of Mauritian students who have no base on Chinese language, with reference of "Chinese Listening Course" published by Beijing Language and Culture University Press. The investigation is made from three aspects of listening pronunciation, sentences or dialogues, and short passage. Pronunciation part is investigated and analyzed from initials, finals and tone aspects, while sentences or dialogues part is classified as Meaning Questions, Number Questions, Place Questions, Nationality Questions and Sentence Element Questions. Regarding short passage part, it is done from the aspects of new words, grammar and meaning.The third part is to discuss the reasons for causing obstacles in listening for Mauritian students in different aspects, such as students themselves, teachers, teaching materials and so on. For students, it relates to culture difference between China and Mauritius, and learning habit else. For teachers, it refers to the reason which is in the class and after class. As for teaching materials, it is regarding both hardware and software.Aiming at the above reasons, the fourth part is to raise according strategies and suggestions from two aspects of teaching strategies and teaching material development. Teaching strategies hereinto includes the strategies before listening, in the listening, after listening and even that of combining listening with other skills. Teaching material development contains both form and content.The fifth part is epilogue which is to summarize the main viewpoint and conclusion in the thesis and put forward some shortcomings in the study process. In the meantime, the writer touches future prospects in the listening teaching of Chinese language and presents relevant advice for future working.
