The ultimate aim of Marxist theory is to explore the full and free development of human being. The concrete goal lies in the self-realization. Self-realization is to understand the purpose of social development from the individual perspective, which is the course of individual self-selection, self-development and self-improvement.Self-realization, which is a kind of human need, has two different dimensions: one is the individual dimension and the other is the social dimension. From the individual dimension we can see the development of individual abilities; from the social dimension we can see the development of social nature. Human nature is the basis of human self-realization. During the individual self-realization, people will consciously choose the purpose of activity, take up the initiative spirits, explore their potential in the labor practice, form various social relationships and realize their own values and ideals.Marx’s understanding of human nature has gone through a process of development:During infancy, Marx believed that self-consciousness, freedom and rationality is the essence of man; during the development period, Marx believed that labor is the manifestation of the nature of the class; during maturity, Marx believed that the nature of human reality is the sum of all social relations.Human self-realization is the full development of human nature, Marx’s thesis on the science of human nature is the basis of in-depth analysis of self-realization. Labor embodies the human nature. The essence of human reality is the sum of all social relations, so the practical approach to self-realization, from the individual perspective, needs the labor practice and education. Labor can tap the human potential and promote the realization of human potential. Labor is also the basis of the unity and opposition relationship between the subject and object. Labor practice not only has transformed the objective world, but also helped people to achieve continuous development. From the social dimension, the individual social enrichment and development not only needs to build rich social relations, but also need to transform the unreasonable social relations.Through the transformation of irrational social relationships, the private ownership and the alien control of society have been eradicated. Labor has become a free and conscious activity of human being. Labor is the first need of human. The development of productive forces has created more and more free time, which is the space of human development. In free time, people’s energy and intelligence can have a full and free development. Human self-realization will come true in the independent activities.
