In this paper, we use the compositions in class and the diaries after class, as theresearch object on error analysis in reference teaching, which are written by Koreanlearners of intermediate and senior level. After collected and analyzed a large numberof corpuses and a certain amount of literature readings, we use the theory of textlinguistics carried out a research on the reference error analysis of intermediate andsenior level Korean students. We summed up three reasons that could lead to thereference error in the texts: teaching skills, cultural differences and the factors of thestudents’own. After the analysis of these factors which caused the reference errors inthe texts, this article gives a suitable suggestion on the future teaching.First, we classified the typical types of reference which were used in the textwritings by foreign students. There are four types of reference: time reference,personal reference, site reference, and things reference. At the same time, we use theerror examples which are written by the Korean students to make a detailedclassification on all types of reference that are made a wrong use in texts. According tothe different stages of intermediate and senior level students, we work out a number oferror references and the percentage of all types of error references in different stages.Second, we find three reasons that can cause the error references. After that weknown, in the reference teaching, we should make a classification on the students whocame from different countries or on different stages. The teachers should have a goodcollection of Chinese reference learning skills and also they should have somereference comparison knowledge about Chinese and Korean. At the process of learningChinese, the teachers should reduce or avoid the negative transference of mother tongue. They should focus on after-school trainings and also should pay attention onstudents’reference learning which can be exercised in listening, reading, speaking andwriting.The reference teaching is very important and very difficult in the Chinese learning.The purpose of writing this paper is to provide some suitable advises by the study onthe error analysis of reference in writings by Korean learners of intermediate andsenior level.
