With the improvement of China’s influence all over the world, more and more foreign people realized the importance of studying Chinese. Chinese catch‐words, the forefront vocabulary which reflect the social cultural phenomenon, have been widely developed and applied in recent years. Therefore, many learners who learn Chinese as a second language closely follow the development of times and the transition of language cultural atmosphere. They have a strong interest in studying Chinese catch‐words, with the hope of improving their spoken Chinese,enhancing the interest of studying Chinese, grapping the latest social culture and becoming more and more confident in studying Chinese. This paper investigated and studied from the view of learners who study Chinese as a second language, according to the present teaching situation of Chinese catch‐words in China’s college teaching Chinese as a foreign language and the situation of international students’ mastering of Chinese catch‐words. By the main means of questionnaire and along with other research methods, this paper investigated the international students’ situation of studying Chinese catch‐words, such as, the degree of their mastering, the frequency that they contact the catch‐words, their interesting, the probability they contact catch‐words in class, and the purpose and methods of their learning. This paper point out international students had some basic knowledge about Chinese catch‐words. They hoped have more in‐depth understanding about it. Besides, they also hoped that through learning Chinese catch‐words to enhance their understanding of Chinese culture, improve their interest of learning Chinese and their ability of Chinese. However, there is no enough attention paid to college teaching Chinese as a foreign language currentlyTherefore, the paper points out that it is necessary to carry on teaching Chinese catch‐words. Foreign Chinese workers should give more attention to this and improve the teaching method on the basis of the original foundation. Besides, we also put forward some suitable teaching methods, teaching principle, and teaching goal for foreign Chinese teaching.
