Along with the continuous and accumulating communications in economy and culture between Thailand and China and the development of teaching Chinese as a second language (TCSL), more and more Thai students start to learn Chinese. Simultaneously, Chinese has been developed systematically as a main course by all schools of Thailand.Phonetics is the major problem, the basis and also the teaching key of second language learning and it will effect expression of language. From the view of a TCSL teacher, pinyin learning is essential in the start of Chinese learning. Hypothetically, the students haven’t received proper pinyin education or create a wrong pinyin system for their own, and then they will not be able to learn the pronunciation and other factors of Chinese correctly. For this reason, how to teach pinyin specifically and properly in phonetics of TCSL becomes an important issue.Former researches about Thai students’ Chinese phonetics learning and phonetic errors provide significant references for the present Chinese teaching in Thailand researches. This essay focuses on Chinese pinyin teaching and learning and conducts Chinese zero-based Thai middle school students as teaching objects. Middle school students’age level is different from adults’ and children’s; it is puberty which has its own sharp learning attitude and behavior characters. Besides, the present TCSL in Thailand has its own problems, for example, the unsatisfying teaching environments and conditions. This essay attempts to find an effective, simple, and systematical pack of methods for Chinese zero-based Thai middle school students to learn pinyin. According to the experiences in TCSL, the author summarizes material strategies which can help Thai middle school student to learn pinyin properly. This essay starts with initial consonants, compound vowels, tone and syllable system of pinyin, then compares and distinguishes initial consonants, compound vowels and tone on the basis of didactics and group teaching which is divided by different receptivity of the students, and finally reflect in the holistic syllables. In the process of TCSL, via multipurpose and flexible use of "demonstration method","manual alphabet", and "voiced method", to accomplish the teaching mission, enhance the teaching efficiency and provide some material strategies for TCSL in Thai middle schools.
