An Analysis Of Pinyin Errors Of Thai Students In Yunnan University

With the rapid development of the world, China is becoming more and more prosperous. More and more foreigners are learning Chinese. During recent years, with the number of Thai students learning Chinese increasing, their Chinese mistakes can’t be neglected. We all know that pinyin is the first step to learn Chinese for foreigners; it is also a very important phonetic learning tool. Thai students make a variety of errors during the pinyin learning process. After researching a large quantity of relevant references, I found out that only a small part of the researchers had be studied on the pinyin errors of Thai students, most researchers just analysis the pronunciation errors and Chinese characters errors.In this study, I tried to analyze Thai students use Chinese pinyin errors by using mandarin test (foreign student’s edition). Before research, In order to ensure the scientific nature of the test results, I combined three different editions of mandarin Chinese tests, including the whole pinyin version, full version of Chinese characters, pinyin and characters; I recorded their voices in the process of testing and analyzed the recordings respectively during the research. This study applied with the theories:contrast analysis theory, the theory of inters language and bias analysis.The research result shows that Thai students Chinese pinyin errors can be divided into the following parts:Firstly, in the use of Chinese pinyin, speech errors are obvious, itself pronunciation errors and phonological errors, for the most, is the pinyin pronunciation errors that leads to the Chinese character pronunciation errors. Secondly, the use of the Thai student’s Chinese pinyin errors, it exists in using pinyin to write Chinese characters’Chinese characters errors. Thirdly, what can’t be ignored is that Thai students use Chinese pinyin to Chinese character phonetic notation of phonetic errors will appear.As the above mentioned aspects of Chinese pinyin using errors I have carried on the analysis of the cause of errors, I found out that the reasons that cause the above errors can be concluded into the following aspects:negative transfer of mother tongue and target language negative transfer. Learning environment is a not allow to ignore the influence of reason, especially the object of investigation, the limited environment to learn Chinese; Finally, understanding of spelling errors itself also help Thai students correct their bias towards Chinese pinyin. After analyzing errors, this paper gives related teaching suggestions like teachers should be able to use Chinese pinyin correctly, use teaching techniques properly, just to name a few.
