My translation mission is Nobody’s Girl by Hector Malot. It is a Children’s inspirationalnovel. It tells a poor girl who looks for her grandfather with her parents from Greece toFrance. Unfortunately, her father and mother died one after another during their trip. In orderto fulfill her parents’ wish, she goes on the trip by herself, suffering all kinds of difficulties.With her friend’s help, she finds a work in her grandfather’s factory. Her fate changes fromthen on.The novel consists31chapters, translated by5translators.This novel is provided by the Bilingual Project of Foreign Language Teaching andResearch Press (FLTRP), who has set some requirements on the translation, of which we mustfollow close to the line. I choose equivalence theory by Eugene A. Nida to guide my wholetranslation. But in the practice of translation, I adopt the contrastive between English andChinese, which will be embodied in the example analysis in the translation report.
