News is information about current events.Topics covered by news reports are diverse, including politics, finance, economy, business, science and technology, diplomacy, fashion, sports, entertainment and so on.News provides people with fresh information and enables us to keep abreast with the constantly changing world. The significant value of news is self-evident especially in today's fast-changing world where a rapid growth driven by the informatization and globalization is being clearly witnessed. In this background,we should pay as much attention to changes abroad as to current affairs at home. However, reading English news is still impossible for many who do not speak this language. So it is essential to translate English news in order to meet information requirements of people who cannot read English.Translation is a complicated and challenging work, which is constrained by many factors. The famous American translation theorist Eugene A.Nida made a comprehensive analysis of translation issues including the definition of translation, principles of translation and criteria of translation. His translation theory "Dynamic Equivalence" has profound guiding significance for translation practice and points out some promising paths for translators to follow.According to dynamic equivalence theory,a translator should attempt to make both target-language and source-language readers get roughly the same understanding and feelings, rather than create a one-to-one relationship between words of source and target texts.Under the guidance of Nida's theory of dynamic equivalence, this translation practice report analyzes press articles that were translated by the author during the internship at China Daily. The report is composed of five chapters.Chapter one is an introduction to the internship, including the background and the translation process during the internship.Chapter two introduces Nida's dynamic equivalence theory and clarifies translation principles that should be followed.Chapter three demonstrates the feasibility of the dynamic equivalence theory in guiding news translation.Chapter four is an analysis of specific translation cases. The last part is a summary. This report hopes to provide some insight into English news translation.
