Research On The Fourth And Fifth Period Characters Of Jiaguwen Heji Bubian

This thesis takes the fourth and fifth Periods of Jiaguwen Heji Bubian(《甲骨文合集补编》) as object,and conducts fundamental collection and research on the Oracle onrubbings,including distinguishing and classification of characters, statistics and analysis ofthe quantity,frequency and glyph structure of the characters,etc. The Paper consists ofPreface, Character quantity, Character frequency, Type of glyph structure,Disputablecharacter set, Conclusion and Appendix. The Preface is divided into three parts.first of all,abrief introduction of the book Jiaguwen Heji Bubian, then outline relative research andoutcome after publishing of the book,the last part is significance and research plan of thisthesis. The Character quantity chapter counts and analyses the characters in twoways,quantity of a single character and quantity of all the characters,the conclusion isYishizi(已识字) dominates in both ways.The Character frequency chapter,studys frequencyof occurences of the characters,The Type of glyph structure chapter studys the charactersbased on the structure and comes to a conclusion that pictographs accounts for the largestproportion. Disputable character set chapter lists some controversial characters,of whichscholars have different opinions on meaning and glyph structure.Conclusion chaptersummarizes the full text. The appendix has two parts,the table of character and the table ofcharacter frequency.
