Advanced Chinese Proficiency Test is a standardized exam, which is aimed at the testingthe Chinese proficiency of non-native Chinese speakers who live in China and abroad. Thereading questions of Advanced Chinese Proficiency Test are to identify whether thecandidates have the requested reading competence. The range of study is restricted in ChineseProficiency Test (Advanced) and New Chinese Proficiency Test (Level6) by comparing threekinds of Advanced Chinese Proficiency Tests, including13test papers. The distributions ofgrammar points of reading questions of Advanced Chinese Proficiency Test are established bycounting quantity, rank, and frequency. The distributions are comprehensive analyzed fromdifferent angles. The following conclusions can be made after analysis. There are somevariations in question structures of reading comprehension between Chinese Proficiency Test(Advanced) and New Chinese Proficiency Test (Level6). But these exams test the candidates’reading competence at all levels, and focus on the high levels of reading competence more.The grammar points in grammar syllabus of four grades have a direct and close relationshipwith the low level of reading competence. The low level of reading competence is theelementary and necessary qualification of developing the high level of reading competence.The basic guarantee of accurate reading comprehension is to grasp the grammar points well.The high level of reading competence is related to some grammar points closely, which arethe parts of syntax in all grades of the grammar syllabus, especially in grade C and D. This isone of the keys to improve the reading results and speed. In order to help learners, who learnChinese, to improve reading competence, the last part of thesis discusses how to use theresearch results in the advanced phase of teaching Chinese as second language and tutoringfor Advanced Chinese Proficiency Test.
