At present, a growing number of people have begun to learn Chinese, and their proficiency has also been improved, which challenges our teaching methods. However, our career of teaching Chinese as a foreign language is still in development. The theoretical studies in this area are mostly concerned with control of certain teaching factors or control of certain kinds of classes. This paper is based on the theories of pedagogy, psychology, management and the author’s practical teaching in Tongji University. The research is done on the basis of practical teaching, note-taking in class, questionnaires and communication with teachers and students, and author discussed the essence and property in the process of teaching Chinese as a second language. In the main part of this paper, the author analyzed the control of the students which include students’psychology and students’learning methods etc. In the perspective of the control of teachers-themselves which include teaching content, teaching methods, teaching language, and teaching psychology. In the perspective of the control of teaching environment which include physical environment, psychological environment, and social environment. In the research, the author concludes effective art control, such as the control of the learning goal and methods etc. All of these findings will contribute a lot to the development of teaching Chinese as a second language.
