The early development of New York port, can be traced backed to the War of1815.Benefited from the victory of the War of1815,American win the whole dependence, and then set up the peace environment for the development of New York port.Until the Civil War, the New York port seize the chance and finally combat the other rivals.Introduction of the topics include the significance of domestic and international research and this perspective.Chapter Ⅰ,"The origin of the New York Port".This chapter introduces the unique natural geographical position of the New York port, excellent business tradition,the peace environment after the War of1815, the Black Ball Liners.Chapter Ⅱ,"The preliminary development of the New York Port." This chapter mainly describes that there are plenty of cash crops in the broad hinterland within the New York port, but these crops can seldom sell out and make profit. Stimulated by the huge profits and calls from the people, Cliton leads the people to build the Erie Canal and solve the trouble,so the cash crops from the western region can be carried to the New York port,which becomes a transfer station between Great Lakes and the foreign countries,and then shipped abroad.Also stimulated by the huge profit,people then invented the steamboat to save the time on the transportation,and it also bring about more profit to the New York port.Chapter Ⅲ,"The further development of the New York Port." This chapter illustrates the Cotton Triangle, and commercial trade between New York port and the Caribbean and Latin American, even with China and Africa.ChapterⅣ,"The ultimate success of the New York port." This chapter focuses on how New York port defeats the other three ports completely and fulfill its goal.
