Be distinct from literary and daily English", scientific English mainly describe and discuss objective things. Scientific language is impersonal, precise and rigorous, therefore, it has own characteristics and relevant principles of translation. During the translating of scientific English, omission is a common method adopted to guarantee the faithfulness of translation. Based on the differences between Chinese and English, two aspects of omission, which are syntactic omission and semantics omission, have been discussed according to the requirements of scientific translation in this paper. Syntactic omission includes four parts, they are omitting of pronoun, omitting of conjunction, omitting of’it’and omitting of preposition. Second part of omission is syntactic omission which mainly focuses on omission of redundant information. In original text, there is some redundant information. Two aspects of syntactic omission of redundant information have been discussed. First one is omission of dispensable information. That is to say to omit information that not essential or not accord with Chinese linguistic expression; secondly, in order to simplify the translation, omission of reduplicate information is used. As to syntactic omission, it is infrequently used because scientific language is different from literary language. It is precise and rigorous, therefore, the omission discussed in this paper mainly focus on syntactic differences between English and Chinese.
