The Research On Harmonic Techniques Of Franck’s Symphony In D Minor

This paper takes "Symphony in D minor" of19th Century French composer Cesar Franck as research subject and focus mainly on the application of the harmonic techniques in this work. The harmonic techniques in Franck’ works emphasize modeling in scale materials and non-dominant harmony in harmonic language, use French national music elements as basic musical material, stress the descriptions of colorful harmonic language, and explore harmonic language of chromaticism of French national features. The founder of impressionistic music-------Debussy, is affected deeply by Franck’s harmonic techniques. Based on above descriptions, in this paper, with considering the life surrounding and times background of Franck, we analyze the features of his harmonic language and demonstrate his harmonic techniques’ effect on the impressionistic music by the analysis and research of harmonic techniques.
