This dissertation analyses the selection and arrangement of basicgrammars appeared in"The Basic Chinese" which published byChulalongkorn University. Compared to "The Standard of ChineseLanguage Level and a General Outline of Chinese Grammar"(GeneralOutline), the study, in which mainly employed statistical technique,analyses and describes some worth drawing on points and theproblematic points of the selection and arrangement of basicgrammars in the subject material. This paper also comparesgrammatical structures between Chinese and Thai languages, alongwith a discussion about advantages and difficulties for Thai studentslearning Chinese. Deliberation of writing Chinese grammar book,language teaching and teaching arrangement also provided in thispaper. The contents are divided into five chapters as follows:Chapterâ… : Introduction,elaborates all background of the researchtopic and subject material selection. The summary of previously relatedstudies and methods and techniques of analysis are also included.Chapter â…¡: Discusses about the selection and arrangement ofChinese grammars which appeared in textbook for Thai junior highschool level. The contents are separated into three parts: Grammarstructures which are about to examined; The characteristics of syntaxlearning arrangement; and The comparison between "The BasicChinese" and "The Standard of Chinese Language Level and a GeneralOutline of Chinese Grammar". The third part is also divided into: Thedegree of compatibility between the two languages; The similaritiesand differences of syntax selection; The order of syntax teaching; andThe "outdated" and misusing sentences which appeared in the book. Inaddition, some problematic points will be separately clarified in this lastpart. Chapter â…¢: Focuses on Chinese and Thai grammatical structures incomparison; this chapter is divided into three parts;The consistency inWord formation;Word order contrast between Chinese and Thai; andThe uncorrespondence of Chinese and Thai languages. From thecontrast of grammatical structure of both languages, this chapterdilates on advantages and difficulties of Chinese language learners inThailand. In order to benefit Thai students, more grammar points haveto be enhanced. Also, some certain examples can be observed in thischapter.Chapter â…£: Written about teaching Chinese grammar through Thailanguage and the deliberation of writing Chinese grammar teachingmaterials. Main contents consist of Language transfer in Chinesegrammar; Syntax additions and deletions in a teaching process; andReordering of grammar points teaching.Chapter â…¤: Summarizes the main contents and it is the conclusion ofthis paper. The study shows that "The Basic Chinese" has significantimportance in the history of Chinese teaching in Thailand, so, thereshould be a more improved edition to be published. Especially on theterm of grammar selection, that should be more specifically andforesightedly compiled.
