The Research On Pottery-making Craft Of Shang Dynasty In Daxinzhuang Site

The research on Shang Dynasty’s pottery-making craft is less and the perspective is large, most studies just focus on the pottery-making craft, the research on the way of pottery production mode is less. Therefore, based on the basis of ethnological recordings and the former achievements, as well as simulation experiment, we will discuss the pottery of Daxinzhuang, which is a typical Shang Dynasty site, and through the investigation of the manufacture craft in details to analyze their production organization and production mode. This paper is divided into five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction. Review the short history of research into pottery-making craft in China, and review the research of pottery-making craft on the Shang Dynasty, and then introduce the methodology of this paper.The second chapter is about the profiles of Daxinzhuang site. Mainly demonstrate the natural geographic environment, the prior excavation achievements about Daxinzhuang site, at the same time introduced the pottery samples analyzed in this paper.The third chapter is about the pottery-making craft in Daxinzhuang Shang Dynasty site. This is the most important part of this paper. First, define the traces of the pottery-making craft in Daxinzhuang Shang Dynasty site, followed, recover the pottery-making craft by researching the typical pottery’s traces, finally, summarize the characteristics of the pottery-making craft in Daxinzhuang Shang Dynasty site. In clay processing links, different types of pottery have different processing methods due to its function, the pottery which will get in touch with fire needs to join sand, instead will need washing, clay pottery’s processing is more careful; The shaping method to mud into pottery, including three methods, adhesion technology has been used widely and through the score, rope lines to increase bonding area; Trim technology is advanced, rounding and scraping the process used in most of the pottery; practical and beautiful are main aspects of decorating, rope lines and polishing are usual decorating method. Polishing technology is used in the container. According to the statistics, we found that the production of technical characteristics of the Daxinzhuang Shang Dynasty site mainly throughout all the time, and do not have obviously mutations, with strong continuity.The fourth chapter is about the society of Shang Dynasty behind Daxinzhuang pottery-making craft. This is another emphasis of this paper. First, Compare the pottery-making craft of Daxinzhuang Shang Dynasty site, including settlement and tombs pottery-making craft, pottery-making craft between different levels of tombs, comparing pottery-making craft between the second types of remains and the main remains; second, research on the original porcelain, hard pottery and high standard pottery from Daxinzhuang Shang Dynasty site; finally, the research on pottery’s production mode, depending on the direct evidence and indirect evidence, consider that the pottery production mode of Daxinzhuang Shang Dynasty site may be" core workshop".The fifth chapter is the conclusion. This paper points out the main conclusions and some problems in the research of pottery.
