Based on the teaching practice of Chinese phonetics to middle school students in Chile, this research made comparative analysis Chinese and Spanish phonetics, and error analysis to the collected phonetic errors and tried to find a more appropriate and effective teaching method to reduce errors and enhance teaching effects. The learning process of Chinese phonetics for students in Chile was presented dynamically and the effectiveness of teaching method applied by the researcher was verified through the comparative analysis to the errors in the two phonetic tests. The thesis included five parts:Chapter one was an introduction part, briefly introduced the research objective and significance, research methodology and the teaching situation.Chapter two briefly introduced the theoretical basis and literature review.Chapter three comparatively analyzed the Chinese and Spanish phonetics. Through comparing the consonants, vowels and syllable structures of the two languages, this research found some mother tongue transfers during language learning process. On the one hand, there were some similarities between the phonetics of the two languages, which could reduce the difficulties in learning Chinese; on the other hand, the differences between the phonetics of the two languages helped students predict the learning difficulties and their causes.Chapter four induced the phonetic errors students made, and elaborated and analyzed the errors from the aspects of interlingual errors and intralingual errors. In addition, this chapter explained the objective factors which caused the errors by analyzing students’learning environment such as phonetic teaching, practicing and textbook, and analyzed the subjective factors such as physical subjects, cognitive subjects and emotional subjects. Based on the phonetic errors students made and students’characteristics, this researcher applied some teaching methods into phonetic teaching. The phonetic tests after applying new methods objectively presented the learning process of Chinese phonetics for students and verified the effectiveness of teaching process.Chapter five was the conclusion part of this thesis.
