As the parts of the the poetry of the Tang Dynasty, the subject and the preamble of the poetry, havetraditionally been seen as scrap materials in the poetry. In fact, they each have their own characteristics andhave the unique function in a complete poem. Some preambles even exceed the poem because of their greatvalue and become independent literary works. The paper tries to analysis the poem, the subject and thepreamble of the poetry, considering of the each-other effect among them, especially the three mutualinfluence, to find out and grasp their characteristics and excavate its value.the subject is like the face of the whole poem, and they can reflect the whole poem style. They can bedivided into short subjects and long ones. Internal structure of a single subject shows differentcharacteristics, and all kinds of collocations are possible. The development of the poem subject experienceda long process. By the Tang Dynasty, poetry subject had been fully mature. The poem subjects have theunique value and function, and become one of the parts of the whole poem independently.The origin of a poetry preamble is quite clear. The preambles before the Tang Dynasty performed greatfunctions to the boom of Tang preambles. As a prose, although the poetry preamble can not be compared tothe poem in the number, its value can not be replaced by the rhymed poem.Poem, the subject and preamble, co-exist in a complete poetry, constituting the whole poem. They arecomplementary and mutually exclusive, making the whole poem become complete and concise more andmore.
