A Functional Equivalence Approach To The English-Chinese Translation Of Documents Of Sino-Foreign Educational Exchange

In recent years, with the rapid development of advanced education globalization in our country, education field becomes a dynamic field of international exchange and cooperation. Sino-foreign educational exchange Documents should be submitted as necessary application materials. Then the demand of translation is becoming higher. Hence the translation problem could be paid attention to and discussed in the translation field, which is inevitable. Eugene A. Nida is famous as a linguist, translator and translation theorist whose theory of Functional Equivalence advocates "the most closely natural equivalence" between the source language and target language, which should also be followed by the E-C translation of documents of Sino-foreign educational exchange. In translating, the translator should follow the basic methods with literal translation playing the dominant role, and free translation the supplementary role. This thesis attempts to discuss how to solve the problems in the E-C translation of documents of Sino-foreign educational exchange based on Functional Equivalence.
