In the2010Spring Festival Party, Premier Wen proposed to make people live happier and more dignity. In February27,2011, Premier Wen communicated with net friends and proposed that "happiness is to allow people to live comfortable, peace of mind, and have confidence for the future." In the2012years of CCTV survey on the economic and life, Changsha was elected to the top10happiness city in China. Currently, we systematically study the factors that affect the subjective well-being of citizens in Changsha. This study is of great significance in theory and practice to improve the living condition and subjective well-being of citizens in Changsha and to build harmonious socialist society.This research is based on the theory of social comparison, and the empirical research methods of society. Data is gathered mainly through the questionnaire with the aid of the case interview and literature methods. We analyze the current status of the subjective well-being of the samples of200citizens in cities and towns within Changsha, Hunan. Then we discuss the demographic characteristics and the extent of social support affecting the subjective well-being of citizens in Changsha of the sample. Based on this empirical research, we propose corresponding solutions that have benefits for the Party and government to further improve the subjective well-being of citizens in Changsha.The results of the study show that:1. the subjective well-being of citizens in Changsha has trivial difference with that of overall national degree.2. The demographic characteristics have significant effect on the subjective well-being of citizens in Changsha. The age, marriage, education and occupation have great influence on it, while the sex has minor influence.3. The social support has significant effect on the subjective well-being of citizens in Changsha. The subjective support has the most influence. The social support, subjective support and the subjective well-being of citizens are consistent.The study proposed the corresponding countermeasures and suggestions on the base of case study:First, improving the quality of marriage and building a harmonious family relations. Secondly, improving social relations, and expanding social support networks. Thirdly is increasing investment in education and raising educational levels. The fourth is to improve the income level, narrowing the gap between the rich and the poor of different occupations. The fifth is improved the social security system, to raise residents’subjective well-being.
