This thesis attempts to analyze the author’s original orchestral work Points, Lines and Riddles with regard to its creation techniques in three chapters.1. The overall layout, including the general structure and the application of musical materials.2. The application of the serial music technique. In the work Points, Lines and Riddles, three serials are applied and each of them is similar with the others to different degrees, being characterized by using dissonant tones and abiding by the inner principle of comparison and unification. As in serial writing, ways of presenting the texture are free and rich in variety, the work in the thesis applies several ways of presentation, including linearity, verticality and horizon, segmentation and overlapping. In the creation of modern music in the20th century, rhythm acts as one of the important parameters that control the structure power, whose significance and status are gradually manifested in the works of many composers. Therefore, the work studied employs an unconventional way of wrting rhythms as one of its structure power parameters.3. The application of timbre and acoustics. Timbre and acoustics, as the structure power of a piece of work, play an extremely important role. Different dispositions are made in different structures and paragraphs. It consists of muti-elements. During the whole process of music development, acoustics of different types create the greatest variety of dynamic effects. The combinations of timbres and their presentations, various ways of timbre contrasts, as well as the alternate combinations of acoustics in points, lines or planes ways, all contribute to the variation of tone levels, which...From the perspective of texture forms of acoustics, the work Points, Lines and Riddles covers some basic texture forms such as points, lines, blocks and planes. While from the perspective of tone organization manners, it involves tone overlying and reducing, tone unifying and partial dyeing, and tone connecting and pasting up.
