A Comparative Study On Leisure Tourism In Shanghai And Foreign International City

Leisure tourism has been a hot topic in the world, owing to its effectsin regional growth and life quality advantage., speedinginternationalization process of leisure tourism is required, as constructionof international tourism city is targeted in Shanghai “1025” plans.Therefore, a research on leisure tourism service between Shanghai andforeign international city is comparatively analyzed, to discover gapsand provide recommendations of improvement.In this paper, an index evaluation system of leisure tourism withcores of market share index, comparative advantage index, servicesatisfaction index is built based on the characteristics of leisure tourismand previous studies. This index system evaluated the competitivenessof leisure tourism from three levels of absolute amount, relativeproportion and service quality respectively. New York, London, Paris,Tokyo, and Singapore are selected to quantitative analysis. Results showthat, Shanghai ranks third in the market share index, ranks fifth in thecomparative advantage index and ranks sixth in the service satisfactionindex. So, there is a big gap between the international competitivenessof Shanghai and sample city.In order to find the factor influencing the differences betweenleisure tourism service of Shanghai and international city, an dimensionmodel is first built based on influence factors. Model regression resultsshow that, the most important factor affecting Shanghai leisure tourismservice is the capital factor. While the most important factor affectingsample city’s leisure tourism service is the labor factor, followed by thecapital factor. In order to better analyze the factor that impactShanghai leisure tourism, an empirical analysis is preceded on threeaspects of capital factors: original value of leisure tourism fixed assets,highway and railway route number and paid vacation days total, based on the contrast analysis. Results show that, highway and railwayroute number has the greatest impact on leisure tourism service ofShanghai, followed by paid vacation days total, again for original valueof leisure tourism fixed assets.On the basis of previous comparable analysis, countermeasures ofenhancing leisure tourism service in Shanghai are brought forward, fromleisure tourism industry policy making and international experience.From theoretical analysis, quantity analysis, and empirical analysis,regarding the previous research on leisure tourism theory, a newmethod to set future leisure tourism industry policy is put forward.
