Situational teaching is a hot topic in the field of second language teaching worldwide because knowledge can never existed without its context, thus the best way to acquire knowledge is in a realistic situation. Then, how about the current situation of situational teaching method that is adopted in Chinese language teaching? With the question in mind and according to the theory of pragmatics and situational teaching, this paper attempts to transcript and analyze quantitatively the total10teaching cases which were collected randomly through multiple channels with the expectation of getting the answers to questions such as how about the consciousness of current Chinese teachers for applying situational teaching method. and what about the proportions, differences and effects of situational teaching applied in every teaching steps. etc. through a rough statistics estimate. Besides that, this paper also focus on and analyze the advantages and weaknesses of some classic samples from each teaching step and finally provide a teaching mode for reference and inspiration for comprehensive Chinese course.This paper is divided into the following sections: The first chapter mainly present the scope, key elements and the types of "situational teaching" by carding relevant concepts with the purpose of establishing judge criteria for the comprehensive analysis below.Then the second chapter. which is also the centre part of the paper. start quantitative analysis from collected videos, classroom observations and lesson plans in order to settle the problems of consciousness of current Chinese teachers for applying situational teaching method. the proportions. differences and effects of situational teaching in every teaching step. What is worth mentioning is that besides horizontal compare of every teacher’s teaching process. this part also presents longitudinal analysis of how situational teaching method is implemented throughout a complete lesson which made this paper more logical and more stereoscopic. Finally according to the above analysis, the third part naturally provides some optimum suggestions for situational teaching.In conclusion, this study is based on situational teaching theories, but also complements the deficiencies to empirical study of the domestic situational teaching. In addition. with careful and logic analysis of these rich and real teaching cases. this paper become more and more scientific and practical.
