Placement verbs,as a word group of modern Chinese lexicology, whosecharacteristics have aroused much attention in modern Chinese linguistics. Basedon previous studies, the thesis hopes to comprehensively reveal such typical classfrom perspectives of syntax, semantics and cognition etc. This thesis firstly combines meaning with form, coming up with the criteriaof monosyllabic placement verbs and ascertaining twelve high-frequencymonosyllabic placement verbs based on the dynamic circulation corpus.Syntactically, on one hand, the thesis puts emphasis on the static functions ofhigh-frequency monosyllabic placement verbs through three syntactic patterns:NPplaced+V+zai+NPspatial position;NPplaced+zai+NPspatial position+V+zhe; NPspatialposition+V+zhe+NPplaced. On the other hand, syntactic reflection of obligatorysemantic components of high-frequency monosyllabic placement verbs has alsobeen analyzed, which is mainly manifested by the forward displacement of objectcomponents and the forward and backward displacement of dative.Semantically,on one hand, the thesis analyzes the conception of twelvehigh-frequency monosyllabic placement verbs, and explores the common semanticcharacteristics. On the other hand, discusses the meaning constitutes of twelveh i g h-f r e q u e n c y m o n o s y l l a b i c p l a c e me n t v e r b s a c c o r d i n g a s “me a n i n ganalysis—meaning constitute” theory. Moreover, the thesis studies the selectionof semantic components. Finally, the thesis researches twelve high-frequency monosyllabic placementverbs from cognition: constructs the cognitive schema of putting event and studiescharacteristics of the event placed; explores the application situation of thecognitive schemata elements of putting event in the dictionary definition; dividessubcategories of putting event, and combined with the syntax for further analysis.
