At present, the Confucius institutes have established one after another in many countries. With the international popularity of Chinese, the development of teaching Chinese as a foreign language in Thailand is very rapid. More and more Thai people have putting into the upsurge of learning Chinese. It is necessary for us to do some research on theory and practice for such a huge learning group with its own characteristics.Complements are a unique component of modern Chinese grammar constituents. There are not any complement grammar components in Thai language. Therefore, complements are the key and difficult points in learning Chinese for Thai students. Quantitative complements are one of the Chinese complements. Previous researches on the quantitative complements are rare and most scholars pay much attention to the directional complements. So the author decided to explore the field of quantitative complements. This paper uses the method of contrastive analysis to analyze the Chinese quantitative complements and the Thai corresponding expression forms. Besides, it combines with the questionnaire of Thai students. Then the author summarized errors that the Thai foreign students produced in the process of acquiring the quantitative complements. Through absorbing the rich achievements of Chinese ontological research, the author tries to reveal some law of language acquisition on Thai learners of Chinese. Finally, the author discussed the reasons of errors and put forward some relevant recommendations. The author hopes to provide effective guidance on teaching the quantitative complements of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language.
