Report On Translation Of Selected Water Sports English

Qingdao is the city where the sailing events of2008Beijing Olympic Gameswere held. From then on, this city, which keeps on moving by sails, became one of thebrightest pearls on the sea. As my translation project, water sports English-Chinesetranslation is not only in accordance with the sailing culture in Qingdao, but also inline with my previous translation research field. This translation report will makesummary and analysis from the aspects of task description, original text’scharacteristics and translation apperception, with a hope to present the translator’sharvest in knowledge, academic enlightenment and emotional experience.This report focuses on the language characteristics of water sports English, aswell as translation skills based on different subjects and stylistics. By combiningtheory and practice, this report emphatically introduces how to choose translationskills for water sports English translation, the process of retranslation andmodification, the problems and solutions during translation, the rhythm and procedureof the project, and the effects caused by pressure and its solution. At the same time,the report analyzes the differences in translation strategies on the basis of differentstylistics (e.g. events report, official document, etc.), finally present the languagecharacteristics, translation skills and theoretical summery of water sports English.
