As the legacy of the human historical civilization, the intangible culture provides preciousinformation for the research on the human history and the development of civilization, thushaving great artistic and scientific value. However, in recent years the intangible cultureheritage has been on the decline, with the continuity of an increasing quantify of them indanger, exemplified by the risk of extinction facing much of the heritage, absorption andassimilation, and so many intangible culture artists and exponents switching to other jobs thatthere is possibly no heir to the heritage. In this context, a growing importance is beingattached to intangible culture preservation and research home and abroad, and more and morecountries and institutions turn their attention to the preservation and research. With theresearch going further, how to better preserve and research the intangible culture throughnetwork and information technologies is emerging as a big issue. The paper employs the concept of cultural ecology and cultural integration in terms ofgeographical information system. By the research on spatio-temporal data model, establishment of spatio-temporal database, and the use of World Wide Web, it realizesnetwork collection, viewing, customized downloading and collaborative research ofintangible culture heritage information. Then taking the Wei County paper-cut as the researchobject, it analyses the pattern of the intangible culture, and forms a complete research processfrom data acquisition to data mining. In the process of data acquisition, by the introduction of geographic informationtechnologies to preservation and research, and integration of relevant information of theintangible cultural heritage, it realizes digital research on the heritage. First, it uses thespatial-temporal model consistent with the intangible cultural heritage information to establishthe spatial-temporal database. Then, it creates a intangible cultural heritage informationmanagement system based on WebGIS, which can serve as an information platform forresearch on the heritage. Therefore, it proves the feasibility of GIS to intangible culturalheritage research, and more importantly, pioneers a platform that is expected to be animportant data source for intangible culture researchers in the future and realizes intangibleculture data sharing. In the quantitative research of the spatial pattern of the intangible cultural landscape, thePaper-cut in YuXian was selected as the object of this study and Paper-cut Artists wereregarded as the cultural carrier. By method of floating catchment area (FCA), inverse distanceweighted (IDW) and data smoothing and interpolating, the culture of the Paper-cut in YuXianhas been demonstrated to distribute in the spatial pattern in which theZhangZhuang—BeiShuiTou is the central line and to have the tendency to distribute in thevalley area. In order to analyze the factor influencing the cultural landscape pattern and toinvestigate the relationship between the cultural landscape and the factors of the nature andeconomy, the mean test and the regression analysis was used and the influencing factorsselected were derived from the relative historical records. As a result, the cultural landscapepattern of the Paper-cut is proved to have a close relationship with the highway and altitude. In conclusion, the artist can be regarded as the carrier of intangible culture, in addition, thequantitative research in the cultural landscape is feasible.
